Rumesh Modarage, the Chief Operating Officer and the Specified Officer at Union Assurance PLC, joined the Company in 2019 with over 13 years of experience in the corporate field, including the Insurance industry. His expertise spans life insurance operations including underwriting, servicing and claims, operational risk management, compliance and internal controls, product development, call center management, customer service, complaint management, policy renewal optimization, strategy, and reinsurance. Rumesh holds an MBA from the Postgraduate Institute of Management, University of Sri Jayewardenepura (SL). Rumesh is also an Associate Chartered Management Accountant of the Chartered Institute of Management Accountants (UK), a Fellow Member of the Chartered Insurance Institute (UK), and a Chartered Insurer. Rumesh was a dedicated council member of the Sri Lanka Insurance Institute from 2019 to 2023.

Himani Weerasekera, the Chief Financial Officer at Union Assurance PLC, joined the Company in 2024 with 30 years of experience in the corporate field, including the Manufacturing and Finance industries. Her expertise spans financial planning, ensuring stringent compliance from regulators and related stakeholders, managing internal working capital requirements, controlling overheads, pricing products, and managing operational and financial feasibility. Himani holds an MBA from the University of Victoria (AUS). She is also a Fellow at the Chartered Institute of Management Accountants (UK) and a Chartered Global Management Accountant at the Chartered Institute of Management Accountants (UK).

Harsha Senanayake, the Chief Information Officer at Union Assurance PLC, joined the Company in 2016 with over 15 years of experience in the corporate field, marked by significant contributions to the Digitalisation and Enterprise Applications at the John Keells Group. Harsha holds a BSc in Computer Science from the London Metropolitan University (UK) and a Postgraduate Diploma in Information Systems Management from the University of Colombo (SL).

Imtiyaz Aniff, the Chief Agency Officer at Union Assurance PLC, joined the Company in 2021 with over 19 years of experience in the corporate field, including the Banking, IT, FMCG, and Telecommunications industries. Imtiyaz holds an MBA from the University of Wales (UK), and a Chartered Qualification in Human Resource Management from the Chartered Institute of Personnel Management (SL). He is also a Chartered Member of the Chartered Institute of Personnel Management (SL), and a Senior Certified Professional of the International Public Management Association for Human Resources (USA). Imtiyaz was presented with the HR Leadership Award by the World HRD Congress in 2020.

Mahen Gunarathna, the Chief Marketing Officer at Union Assurance PLC, joined the Company in 2019 with over 20 years of experience in the corporate field, including the Hospitality, Fashion and Textile, and Insurance industries. His expertise spans channel marketing, customer insights, experience management, and digital marketing. Mahen holds an MBA from the Postgraduate Institute of Management, University of Sri Jayewardenepura (SL). Mahen is also a Chartered Marketer from the Chartered Institute of Marketing (UK), a Qualified Member from the Sri Lanka Institute of Marketing (SL), and a Certified Professional Marketer from the Asia Marketing Federation.

Malaka Mihindukulasuriya, the Chief Actuarial Officer of Union Assurance PLC, joined the Company in 2025 with over 21 years of experience in the insurance and actuarial field, including extensive local and international exposure. A fully qualified Actuary, his expertise covers product development, pricing, reserving, solvency and capital management, embedded value, business planning, and strategic advisory across life insurance operations. Malaka holds a BSc in Business, Financial and Computational Mathematics from the University of Colombo, an MSc in Actuarial Management from City St George’s, University of London, and an Executive MBA from PIM, University of Sri Jayewardenepura. He is a Fellow Member of the Institute and Faculty of Actuaries (UK) and has also served as Chairman of the Actuarial Sub‑Committee of the Insurance Association of Sri Lanka and a Council Member of the Actuarial Association of Sri Lanka.

Wathsala Aluthgedara, the Chief Partnership Distribution Officer at Union Assurance PLC, joined the Company in 2023 with over 20 years of experience in the corporate field, including the FMCG, Investment, and Corporate Planning industries. Her expertise spans marketing, brand management, and corporate planning. Wathsala holds a BSc (Hons) in Computer Science and Information Systems from the London Metropolitan University (UK), and an MBA from the University of Wales (UK). Wathsala is also a Fellow Chartered Marketer of the Chartered Institute of Marketing (UK).

Nisansala Paranayapa, the Chief People Officer at Union Assurance PLC, joined the Company in 2024 with over 18 years of experience in multinational and local organisations within the Manufacturing and FMCG sectors. Her expertise spans extensive human resource management, industrial relations, and compliance management. Nisansala is an attorney at law and a life member of the Bar Association of Sri Lanka. She holds an MBA in Human Resource Management and an LLB (honours) from the University of Colombo (SL). She is also a member of the MBA Alumni Association of the University of Colombo (SL) and an associate member of the Chartered Institute of Personnel Management (CIPM).
